Marilyn Lawrence
has worked as a psychiatric social worker and as a university lecturer. She began working with anorexic women in the National Health Service in 1974, and later set up a voluntary counselling service for anorexic women and their families in Leeds. She now works at the Tavistock Clinic in London as a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Social Work and as a psychotherapist in private practice.
She is also the author of Fed Up and Hungry: Women, Oppression and Food and, with Mira Dana, Women's Secret Disorder and Fighting Food.
