THE VISITATION

Michele Roberts

£6.99

'Her prose has the distinction of Colette'

Sunday Times

'Helen is in conflict between her suburban upbringing, her independence, her creativity and generations of silence surroundin notions of gender and sexual behaviour ... The Visitation is sensual, emotional, daring and provocative. Helen, by taking control, learns to eroticise each aspect of her life.'

Shout

'The Visitation has done something so rare it may be unique - describe heterosexual sex from a female point of view with all the force and lyricism of those male authors, like DH Lawrence, who have so famously falsified the female experience.'

Guardian

'Roberts's poetic imagination praises the good things in life and throws the book of archetypes at anyone who thinks that women should keep quiet.'
